What happened to the International Baccalaureate Programme being implemented at LBHS?
For two years, the LBUSD investigated the plausibility of adding the International Baccalaureate Programme to the current curricular choices at LBHS. This investigation included the training of teachers and administrators, visitation of 4 California IB high schools with similar demographics, the hiring of an IB official to examine how the program fit into our curriculum, as well as extensive input from teachers, administrators, and representatives from the community. The number of potential students who would access the IB Programme contributed to the question of its cost effectiveness. LBUSD and LBHS held 2 public forums where the positives and the negatives of adding the program were presented and discussed. The result of the 2-year investigation was that the district determined to keep the current curriculum and review the IB Programme again within 5 years.
