The last intake for the Graduate Diploma in Education (Dip Ed) was in 2007. The Master of Teaching was introduced in 2008. The Master of Teaching technically replaced the Graduate Diploma in Education as the only pre-service teaching qualification offered at the University of Melbourne for secondary education. The Master of Teaching is a more academically rigorous program with different features to the Dip Ed.
