What Happened to the Ethiopian Eunuch?
The question of what happened to the Ethiopian eunuch after he left Philip in Acts 8 is not answered in the Scriptures. Someone has jokingly said, whatever happened to him, he did not leave any descendants! However, it is a serious question that deserves a serious answer. In answering this question, I would like to use the “Who”, “Where”, “What”, and “Why” forms of questions to provide an answer. • Who was the Ethiopian eunuch? Most Bible scholars believe that he was either a Jew or a Jewish convert. The diaspora Jew was found in every part of the world. It was well known that a large colony of Jews was established in Alexandria, Egypt before the time of Christ. As with Esther and Daniel, they often held high positions in the countries in which they lived. • Where was Ethiopia in Biblical times? This is a question of much debate. It is generally believed that it was not the same as modern day Ethiopia. Biblical Ethiopia was located south of Egypt in what is modern Sudan, possibly Yemen
