What happened to the 4 other days that middle schools currently have besides the six half-days?
Over the last several years, middle schools have used different numbers of days to support conferencing – Fairhaven has used 6 plus two for at risk; Whatcom has used 10; Shuksan has used 6 plus 4 for at risk; Kulshan has used 6 plus 3 for at risk. What we are proposing is having all schools – both elementary and middle level – have the same six (6) half-days for the end of first trimester conferences. All elementary and middle will have two additional early release days for at risk conferences and the choice to designate one more early release day for at risk conferences. Schools needing to conference with large numbers of at risk students may request an additional two days for such conferences.
