What happened to children in London during the Blitz?
we got bombed I was evacuated for about 3 months but mum said it was to Quiet so we moved back to london and I went to school most days My school was never Bombed and was Built in 1886 dad worked as a Munitions policher and an ARP warden at night as a result of all the Mothers doing the mens Jobs we became Latch Key Kids the key was on a Piece of string behind the letterbox which was in the front door and we had to fend for ourselfs we played in bombed Buildings and crashed Aircraft and we would follow the Home Guard around and for the whole of the awr i never went Hungry just had little choice and i still Love Fish and Chips never rationed the Only disapointment was in June 1942 the americans arrrived and all the eggs dissapeared until June 1944 then they were almost Giving them away
