What Happened to Amendments 3, 7, & 9?
Amendment 3 was removed from the ballot by the Florida Supreme Court. The Court ruled that the title and summary were misleading. You can read a .pdf of the court decision here. I’ve read the amendment and some of the history, and I’m still not quite sure what it’s supposed to do. Regardless, we’ll probably see something very much like Amendment 3 on the 2012 ballot. *** Amendment 7 was the legislature’s attempt to “help” Amendments 5 & 6. Opponents said Amendment 7 would nullify 5 & 6, while supporters said it would help reduce the potential for lawsuits that Amendments 5 & 6 are likely to bring.
