What happened to all the past layouts of Mystery Train?
A. When I redesigned MT, I had one goal in mind: reduction. Simple, clean lines with black text and coloured links were all I wanted. In the old layouts, there was redundancy in the massive accumulation of pages as well as a problem with antiquated Netscape browsers crashing due to frames. In July 2001, I wanted to (1) get rid of JavaScript pop-up windows and drop-down menu bars, (2) delete all use of frames, (3) revise or archive old, crummy commentary articles, (4) celebrate the anticipation of Album Y with some other main graphic than photogenic Taylor shots, and last, (5) take advantage of side server includes technology (ssi), which is supported by the bab.org server. Also, I have a nasty perfectionist streak that compels me to clean up my HTML coding every so often. Rebuilding a website from scratch is the best way to eradicate those ugly nested tags. Q.
