The NFL scores for week 3 of the 2009 season included a win that will go down in Detroit Lions history. The 19 – 14 win over the Washington Redskins helped the Lions avoid their 20th straight regular season loss. Now the Lions can exhale and focus on keeping their current one game winning streak going next week. The Lions won today behind the strength of their running game as Kevin Smith ran for 101 yards on 16 carries. Quarterback Matthew Stafford also had a strong game, throwing for 241 yards as he connected on 21 of 36 attempts. On the other sidelines the Redskins must be questioning where they go from here. Losing to a team that had lost nineteen straight has to be deflating as they drop to 1 – 2.
