What happened during the French and Indian war?
The French and Indian War (1756-1760 was actually the final of a series of wars between England and France. Spain was also involved in a few of these conflicts. The colonies of these two European superpowers were involved only minorly in the first three wars. In England these wars were called King William’s war, Queen Anne’s War, and King Georges War. The fourth war between England and France was the only one started in the American Colonies. This war, The French and Indian War, was started when George Washington was sent by the Royal Governor of Virginia to deliver a message to Fort Duquesne, a French fort, telling the French to leave the Ohio River Valley. Two years later, Washington was promoted to Colonel and led troops into battle against the French and Indians. He quickly built Fort Necessity and was overwhelmed when the enemy came upon their fort.
