What happen as a result of the U.S Imperialism in Cuba, the Philippines, and Hawaii?
In the Philippines, after 30 years of occupation (we took them from Spain in 1898), folks like MacArthur and Eisenhower helped them make the transition to independence. Today, they are a pretty decent country (except the far South, where Muslim extremists are chopping people’s heads off). We also took Cuba from Spain in 1898. Cuba went independent in 1908, but they had a string of pretty crappy governments, leading up to the communist dictatorship established by Fidel Castro, who went crazy when the New York Yankees wouldn’t hire him to play baseball. The dictatorship continues to this day, but Cubans who escape are usually allowed to stay in the USA. Noted Cuban Mike Lowell recently helped the Boston Red Sox win a world championship.
