What group can an individual join to qualify for grp health insurance?
My experience in a group plan was the premiums were 1/2 as much as I am paying now as individual and the coverage was better. The way it worked was the Dr. signed a contract w the ins co. to accept the insurance cos pay rate. If an office visit cost $100, and co-pay was $30 from patient, ins pay rate for visit was amount ins co allowed maybe $50, ins co paid Dr. $20, then Dr. accepted that as payment, patient not abligated to pay remaining $50. I live in a heavily taxed state & companies have moved to adjoining states w lower taxes. I am close to retirement age and am willing to do anything but here jobs go to young or those who have received some sort of assistance in past 6 mos. And yes, that question was on an application I recently filled out. I am very healthy, no medical issues, no medications, not overweight.
