A bed edger is used to create a shallow trench from 2 to 4 inches deep (determined by curbing choice) and approximately 9 inches wide. This is done to remove the grass/sod and create a smooth clean surface to lay the curbing. The yard, landscape, drive, sidewalk, or anything else on either side of the trench will not be disturbed.
