What grade or type of plastic is used for bottling of bournvita, Boost and others?
Pouring hot water on polycarbonate plastic bottles appears to trigger leaching of the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) that could be harmful to consumers, according to a new study. Scientists at the University of Cincinnati in the US say that when the same new and used polycarbonate drinking bottles were exposed to boiling hot water, BPA, an environmental estrogen, was released 55 times more rapidly than before exposure to hot water. http://www.foodproductiondaily.com/news/… Check the bottom of the bottle for the letters “PC,” which means polycarbonate, and means it likely contians BPA. Also look for the number 7 inside a triangle. If so, it may contain BPA. You can also go online and Google your brand of bottle.
