What good thing was going on in america during 1990, that people from other countries migrated in US?
Few Americans know it, but since the 90’s many immigrant businesses have originated in preferential financing or loan set-asides from the Small Business Administration. Nor were the immigrants shy about cashing in on U.S. affirmative action programs. Though in no sense disadvantaged in most cases, they qualified as “minorities” and tapped below-prime financing offered by the Small Business Administration. The same kind of thing occured with home ownership. Congress created two corporations, known as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to help Americans own their own homes. These federally chartered corporations are designed to make financing for home mortgages easier to get. In the 90’s both of them decided to make this funding easier for immigrants to get. Fannie Mae has a New Americans program (part of their “Trillion Dollar Commitment” which is designed to help foreigners who don’t speak English very well borrow money.
