What glue can I use on plexiglass?
You can weld plexiglass (PMMA = polymethyl-methacrylate) with any theta solvent. I know that methylene chloride CH2Cl2 is one theta solvent for PMMA. I have also used chloroform CH3Cl, but it does not work as well. There are tabulations of theta solvents, in the CRC Handbook and in polymer physics texts. A theta solvent dissolves the PMMA in the region of application and the polymer chains assume an expanded random coil conformation, which allows different chains to interpenetrate and become entangled. As the solvent is removed (by evaporation), the mobility of the polymer chains is limited. The net effect is that you have one unbroken piece of PMMA.
