What gives tiles the edge over other natural materials like marble or stone?
First, tiles are easy to lay, and this is why they are preferred over materials such as marble and natural stone. The time taken to lay tiles is substantially less than in the case of any natural stone, be it kota, marble, or granite. A tile comes pre-sized, pre-cut, pre-polished or pre-glazed. In other words, it is finished, unlike a natural stone which is not finished; you need to lay it and then finish it. Marble and granite come in slabs, so they have to be cut at the site. This increases the amount of workmanship required, and makes the whole process tedious. What other advantages do tiles offer? You can get a far greater variety of designs in tiles than in stones. Tiles can imitate marble: they can imitate granite, stone, wood, and metallic finishes. While being close imitations of the real thing, they cost you far less.
