Nowadays, Oasis are lumped in with the Britpop genre, but at the time, they were seen as apart from the seminal britpop acts like Blur, Elastica, Echobelly and the like. The britpop sound was more whimsical and influenced by late seventies/ early eighties new wave. Oasis were more aligned with classic british rock acts such as the Beatles and the Who.
