What funding is available for Workforce Development?
There is a significant amount of money included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for training and education at all levels. Michigan has already received applications for a variety of categories funded through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). There is money targeted at adults, youth, dislocated workers, etc., $136.2 million in funding for MichiganWorks! agencies at the end of April. Information about how much each of the 25 agencies received can be found online. The state is also expecting some additional workforce development dollars from the Youthbuild program, as well as some competitive grant opportunities.
