What function does the Mitochondrion do?
Mitochondrion is the power house of the cell it basically prodcuces ATP and regulates cellular metabolism. the electron transport chain produces ATP through a process called Chemiosmosis. ATP is used up during Pyruvate: the citric acid cycle in the mitochondrion and produces three molecules of NADH and one molecule of FADH2 for the electron transport chain. other function are that they produce heat and store calcium ions.
