What function does the “download port” of the ProCurve Networking by HP Series 2300 switch provide?
This port is used to connect a PC to the switch using a “null modem” cable. This connection can then be used to initiate a download of new software to the Series 2300 switch. New software may be available if there are any product enhancements, such as the support of new transceiver modules. For more information, refer to chapter 1 of the ProCurve Networking by HP Series 2300 and 2500 Switches Installation and Getting Started Guide.
