What fun things are there to do in Birmingham and the surrounding community?
Two local publications, the Birmingham Black & White and the Birmingham Weekly, provide an excellent calendar of things to do in town. Besides the articles and art reviews that are contained in the paper, both publications give a detailed analysis of local concerts, art shows, and different happenings that are occurring in and around Birmingham. Many UAB graduates have attained notable careers in business, medicine, research, the arts, and professional athletics. Two of these numerous notable alumni include Vonetta Flowers and Lawrence DeLucas. Vonetta Flowers was a star athlete while on the UAB track and field team, where she was a 7 time NCAA all-American.
