What fuels can be made from the algal oil?
The unique characteristics of our algal oil and meal make them compatible with fuels, including renewable diesel, biodiesel, biojet and algae-based ethanol. Algal oil is very similar to petroleum in its composition, making it an excellent “drop-in” feedstock for fuel production. It fits into the existing energy infrastructure, including biodiesel and petroleum refineries, without producing corrosion or requiring retrofitting or redesign in the current distribution channels and infrastructure. Aquatic Energy’s oil is competitive with the price of retail diesel and is much lower than the amount competing feedstock providers charge. Because we make our own feedstock, we are not exposed to external market forces that might affect the supply or cost. This accountability provides us with maximum control over the quality and purity of our algae — and we rigorously maintain the highest of standards. Our biodiesel partners qualify for a $1-per-gallon tax credit.
