What frequency cordless phone is recommended for VoIP?
5.8 GHz, or the new 1.9 GHz DECT 6 phones. DECT-6 Phones are becoming the new standard. DECT-6 phone operate on their own 1.9 GHz frequency band. It is not shared with other wireless services and is thus less prone to interference by other services sharing the same bands. 2.4 GHz phones are the least desirable because they share the same frequency bands with other wireless services such as Wireless-G and Bluetooth. 2.4 GHz phones often have interference problems when used with Wireless-G Routers. I am currently using 5.8 GHz phones with my Linksys Wireless-G Router and Linksys PAP2T VoIP ATA adapter. I do not have any interference issues between the router and VoIP connected cordless phones. In the next few months though, I hope to upgrade to DECT-6 cordless phones.
