According to Minnesota Rule 7856.4010, subpart 16, Minnesota Lottery retailers are allowed to accept coin, currency, money orders and checks for the payment of lottery tickets. Also, since checks may be used to pay for lottery tickets and a debit card is the same as a check, debit cards are a allowed form of payment also. Even though lottery retailers may be allowed to accept checks or check cards for the purchase of lottery tickets they are not required to do so.
