What forms are required to apply for Financial Aid and when should they be submitted?
All colleges will require the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This should be filed not earlier than, but soon after January 1. Some private colleges will also require the CSS Profile. This is a two-step process that should be started early in the school year and completed about a week before the college’s deadline. The website will list the colleges that require the Profile. Some colleges require their own institutional financial aid form. In addition to the FAFSA, students applying for aid for schools in California are required to fill out the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form. This is a quick form that needs to be sent before March 2.
