What formats are available for viewing an article from the Article Archive: 1851-1980?
A free, full citation or preview is available for almost every article, which contains the bibliographic information for the selected article and the word count. From this Free Preview, users may decide to purchase a Premium article and go to the full article image. The article image has been stored in a TIFF file and is now quickly converted to PDF format, viewable in Adobe Acrobat Reader. We’ve used Acrobat Reader because of its widespread application, which eliminates plug-in downloading headaches, and because of its versatile functionality. The whole article appears on a single screen, even parts continued on later pages in the original issue. An image of the article is displayed, therefore text is not searchable within Adobe Acrobat Reader. All the accompanying illustrations are there, too.
