Sir C.V. Raman (born on November 7, 1888, at Trichanopoly and died on November 21, 1970, at Bangalore) is well known for his discovery known as the ‘Raman Effect’. He was awarded the Novel prize for physics in 1930 for this outstanding discovery. He was also the recipient of the Lenin Peace Prize of 1958.
