Ulcers, also called peptic ulcers, are sores on the lining of esophagus, stomach or small intestine that are primarily caused by infections from bacterium called Helicobacter pylori and use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen and aspirin, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
