What foods can a diabetic type can eat?

Just eat well balanced meals and avoid a lot of sweets. Eat salads, a lean piece of protein, some fruit and veggies, whole grain cereals. Avoid cakes and cookies and sugary white flour confections. Even a diabetic likes a little ice cream sometimes, just use good judgement and take small amounts. One thing you may want to do is look up diabetic diets online. I learned to stop drinking a tall glass of OJ every day. I used to do that. Then, I realized it was the equivalent of eating 4-5 oranges. Now, if I want OJ, I actually squeeze one small orange into a glass- and discovered that a serving is tiny–portion control is key to good health as a diabetic.

Portion control is important. Also you may find through experimenting that some carbohydrates give you better long term control than others. We find that Basmati rice is the most stable carb, followed by pasta then potatoes. Find a glycaemic index of foods. Use the lower index carbs, which generally have less refined carb is them, these tend to keep sugar levels more stable. Bread may cause you to be high quickly then bomb out. Be careful with refined white bread as your principal carb at night. Otherwise use a well balanced diet as we all should. Diabetic foods are often expensive and no better than standard foods in moderation.
