After owning a Westie for 3 years now, I’ve come to learn a lot about what’s good for his health and what isn’t. It seems that generally speaking, Westies have slightly more sensitive skin than other dogs – my Westie being no exception to this. Further to this, if you’re wanting your Westie to grow the coat that’s commonly associated with the breed (think Caesar puppy), then it’s important to pick the right food for them. Picking the right food is important for any dog, however. The food you choose lays the foundations for the health and happiness of your dog, and so the cost of a good diet should always be factored in to ensure that you can afford to give your dog the quality of life it deserves. I’ve found over the years that natural food is best for my Westie. This should always be dry, as the processed jellied or wet foods contain a lot of potentially unhealthy chemicals and additivies. Yet the natural food I give my Westie helps to keep the allergic reactions that manifest as skin
