What food shoud not be eaten with gout?
I used to have a gnarly bad gout attack every 6 months. I have cut back on beans, stayed away from peanuts (or any peanut product), limited shellfish, organ meats, and red meat, and watched alcohol intake. I also limit spinach, cauliflower, and broccoli. So far, it’s been a year and a half since the last one. They say elderberry juice (check at the health food store) and cherry extract supplements will help eliminate the gout. Fruits are good to eat, and all other veggies. Dairy products are good. Chicken, fish, and pork are okay. The pain and inflammation is caused by uric acid crystals (which look like spikes when under a ‘scope), so anything he can do to prevent them from forming, and to eliminate the uric acid before the crystals form, will help. Lots of water helps to flush the stuff out too. And ibuprophen is the best thing to help with the pain and swelling during an attack. And try not to move the joint.
