What food/drinks help speed up metabolism?
Clinical trials showed that dairy foods speed up metabolism, when used in moderation. This effect appeared to result from calcium, branched chain amino acids, and protein. Studies demonstrated increase in metabolism from regular green tea consumption (catechins, polyphenol epigallocatechin 3-gallate). Other relevant scientific findings point to low-glycemic carbs being better for those with high insulin secretion (bran, oats, whole grains, fruit, vegetables); monounsaturated fats and Omega-3 fatty acids better than saturated fats, high-protein diets improving metabolic parameters… Any food – in reasonable amounts – will keep your metabolism going. Exercise and smaller/more frequent meals will help you to boost it up.
