What font types does Flash support?
Flash uses TrueType fonts, PostScript Type 1 fonts and bitmap fonts installed on the system. Additionally, Flash utilizes a special type of font called a “device font”. The way text displays in a completed movie is determined by the choice of font type used. When the SWF is exported, Flash copies the outline font information from the system into the final movie. This allows the Flash Player to scale the SWF without breaking the smooth outlines of the type. Fonts without outlines, such as bitmap fonts, will work inside Flash, but when the SWF is Published, Flash will not be able to access the font outlines. For this reason, Flash will not be able to smoothly anti-alias these types of fonts. On Windows 95/98/NT, you must use TrueType fonts with Flash.
