What florence nightingale accomplished?
Statistical Accomplishments Florence Nightingale recorded data and created a system for keeping records, with these records she was able to aid in the improvement of city and military hospitals. An example of this record keeping is her records of the mortality rate of the men in the military hospital. With these records she kept track of all the men who came in, what was wrong with them originally and, if they died, what they died of. Through this record keeping she was able to observe that most men who died in the hospital were not casualties of war but casualties of preventable illness that were acquired in the hospital. Today we would call them nosocomial infections. She was one of the first people to use graphical depictions of data, after her presentation on the mortality rate and reason, the deaths in the military hospital dropped dramatically. She created the Polar Area Diagram. As a result of this work, Florence Nightingale led to her election into the Royal Statistical Society
