What fish does a Red devil get along with?
When you have an aggressive and territorial fish you don’t want to choose other territorial fish to go with them. It’s no different then keeping two Bettas together. Cichlids are not friends, and in the wild their territories are much larger then our entire tanks. It’s a common misconception that cichlids should be kept together – it can work under certain circumstances with certain types, or even better in breeding pairs. Keep a close eye on your Acara and Oscar, neither are overly aggressive fish, but they aren’t sharing the tank by choice. Red Devil is one of those fish that really is destined to live alone. Yours still has a fair bit of growing to do and really won’t tolerate much. He would kill an Acara with little effort and kill a JD with a little more effort. With milder cichlids like Oscars and Acara you can make a nice community tank using nonterritorial fish that won’t threaten the cichlid, large enough not to be considered food. I can see a nice tank happening with that Aca
