What financial package is available?
GTP trainees are employed by a school as an unqualified teacher. As such, they are normally paid on the Unqualified Teachers scale, which start at around 14000 (rising to 18000 in Inner London). Schools may well elect to pay trainees on a higher point on either the Unqualified, or Qualified Teachers scales, but cannot pay below the lowest point of the unqualified scale. As you would be an employee rather than a student, trainees are not eligible for the usual student support such as student loans, bursaries, etc., or for Golden Hello payments in shortage subjects. They may however be able to make standard claims for support such as Working Tax Credit.
