What financial aid benefits are available for dependent children of veterans who are classified as Prisoner of War or Missing in Action (POW/MIA)?
The 2007 Florida Legislature amended Section 295.015 Florida Statutes, Scholarships for Children of Deceased or Disabled Veterans to include all POW/MIA veterans. As of July 1, 2007, Scholarships for Children and Spouses of Deceased or Disabled Veterans and Servicemembers (CSDDV) provides funds for dependent children attending an eligible Florida postsecondary institution whose veteran parent meets the following criteria: • POW/MIA in the Armed Forces of the United States, or • Civilian personnel captured while serving with the consent or authorization of the United States Government during wartime service. • Florida resident for one year immediately preceding the POW/MIA classification.
