When scanning from Outlook, Kofax Desktop creates a PDF version of the scanned document and automatically attaches it to your outgoing message. When scanning from Windows Desktop or Windows Explorer, Kofax Desktop creates a PDF document which will be saved in a location you designate. While PDF is the default file format, scanned images created when working in Outlook, Windows Desktop or Explorer also can be saved as TIFF files. Using the PDF Compression functionality, a PDF file is created with images and text compressed to optimize file size in balance with image quality. When scanning from within an Office 2007 application, you’ll save in standard Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx) or PowerPoint (.pptx) format, but with a PNG formatted scanned image inserted into the document. When the OCR feature is enabled, users will also have access to full text search within the PDF file or editable text within an Office 2007 application.
