The most well known festival of Christians is Christmas, when we remember the birth of the Saviour Jesus Christ. The real meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the amazing account of when the Lord God himself came to earth in human form, in the body of the Saviour Jesus. We celebrate the story of his birth in songs, reading this Bible story or seeing it acted in dramas and films. In many countries Christmas is held on December 25th. Two other festivals are common in the Christian Church year. At Easter (March or April) Christians remember the death of the Saviour (Good Friday) and his resurrection 2 days later on Sunday (Easter). During Harvest Festival (September), church buildings are often filled with food gifts that are then given to the poor. Apart from these, many Christians celebrate January 1st as New Year and national festivals as well.
