What fees are promoter’s required to pay to the Commonwealth?
Under M.G.L. c. 147, §40, every promoter must pay the following fees: 1) 2% of the total amount paid or to be paid by the broadcaster or broadcasters for the television or broadcasting rights. This fee must be paid to the state treasurer at least 24 hours before an exhibition. 2) 4% of the total gross receipts from the sale of tickets or from admission fees. This fee must be paid to the state treasurer within 72 hours after an exhibition. 3) 1% of total gross receipts from the sale of tickets or from admission fees for the boxers’ fund. This fee must be paid to the state treasurer within 72 hours after the conclusion of the exhibition.
