What feed is given to farmed fish?
New potential aquatic species are being studied and cultured each year creating a need for specialized formula feeds and feed ingredients. If we are to sustain a strong aquaculture industry with continued growth, we will need quality feed products that meet the diverse nutritional needs of the various species cultured. Fish, like any other animal require nutrients to stay alive, healthy, active and grow. Nutrients are the building blocks of all animal tissues and are involved in all chemical reactions that make up “life”. The types of nutrients required by fish are the same as those required by other animals, humans included.
