Hattie received the nation’s highest civilian honor in 1952. The Congressional Medal of Freedom for redesigning the Women’s Army Corps Uniform. (WAC) Her award was presented at a special dinner that was given in her honor on June 1 1952 Hattie also was the recipient of the C.O.T.Y. Fashion Award for Excellence in the World of Fashion.
