Butadiene is a vital part of the manufacturing process for many products we all use everyday such as, tires and rubber products, house paints, adhesives, masonry and carpet underlay. It is also essential for the production of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) and high impact polystyrene, which are engineered performance plastics used in a variety of applications, such as home appliances, automobile components, power tools and hardware supplies. Butadiene is also used in the manufacture of adiponitrile, a raw material used in making nylon.
