What factors trigger the activation of a CPP Event?
SDG&E’s triggers are soft triggers, which means that SDG&E may call a CPP event when reductions in electricity use by customers are needed during periods of high electric demand or when electric system reliability is in jeopardy. The most dominant triggers are based on system load and temperature. Other triggers that can cause a CPP event to be called include electrical emergency alerts issued by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), or an SDG&E system emergency that affects local grid operations.
