What factors, particularly, have propelled countries to the top rankings?
The top 10 countries in the Index have consistently high rankings in most, if not all, of the sub-indexes. In particular, they perform especially well in both of the sub-indexes that assess democratic governance’s effects on economic growth and quality of life. High levels of personal freedom and social capital are also consistent traits in the top countries.
