What factors helped cause the rapid growth in suburbs after World War II?
suburbs started growing from FDR’s public works programs, the New Deal, that helped during the Depression, creating a lot of roads and railways where people could live away from crowded cities because they now had an easy way of getting back into them race played a role in the shaping of the suburbs because of White Flight – where as African Americans were resettling in northern cities to take advantage of the potential work opportunities and chances for education and development, white people moved out of the city because they didn’t want to be around them and now its happening all over again in reverse – where cities are “redeveloping” African American neighborhoods in the city – to the extent that the residents cant afford to live there anymore, and mostly white people move in – gentrification
