What factors determine the quality of the images?

We use the most advanced state-of-the-art ultrasound machine in order to get the best images for you. The quality of images is determined by the position of the baby, the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby (the more the better) and the amount of tissue between the probe and the baby. If we cannot obtain good quality images, you will be asked to relax for 15 minutes or take a short walk and then we will re-scan. If the baby is still not in a good position, we will ask you to return on another day to try again. No charge will be made for this next appointment.

Fetal position, maternal tissue, amniotic fluid level, gestational age and fetal activity all have in impact on the quality of images. Therefore, images vary from woman to woman.
