What factors are included in the calculation of flight emissions?
In the Lessen My Flight program, emissions are calculated as laid out in the CCD-162 certification criteria document of the EcoLogoM Program. Lessen My Flight multiplies the emissions factor used by the Canadian Standards Association (in kilograms of CO2e per passenger kilometre) by the distance of the flight, calculated using the longitudes and latitudes of the airports and accounting for the curvature or the earth. The figure is then multiplied by the number of trip segments (one-way or return).
