What factor is taken into account when you choose a camera body to test a lens from an independent producer?
At the beginning all lenses produced by independent manufacturers were tested on a Canon 20D because it was the first camera owned by our editorial team. Currently we have bodies from practically all major companies at our disposal and it doesn’t matter to us which one we test a given lens on. In most of cases, though, the availability date of a given mount is predominant. We try to test new lenses as soon as possible so we grab them with such a mount which is launched first on the market. Sometimes there are exceptions to this rule, especially when most of lenses of a given class has already been tested on one particular mount. It’s worth being consequent in such a situations, even if it means a delay, because later the comparison between results is easier.
