What facilities and materials are available for training at Army ROTC?
Cadets will learn the basics of unit movement and battle drills in an open environment, such as sports fields, where every step can be broken down and practiced. Once the basics are down Cadets can move to Norwich’s other training sites which include Paine Mountain and Dole Hill. These two wooded sites are used to further hone skills learned in class and during leadership laboratory and are each set up with their own land navigation courses. Other on-campus training aides include the obstacle course, a rappel tower, and a host of simulators housed in the National Guard Armory. Army ROTC also trains at Devens, Mass. and Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vt., the same training area used by the Army to train mountaineering skills. There are a full array of ranges and outstanding training areas.
